SynSisal

About SynSisal

SynSisal® was created by Curran, a family-owned company with more than 30 years’ experience in natural floor coverings, with offices in Amsterdam and Seattle. Curran responded to the limitations of natural sisal by creating a product with the same look and texture, but with a softer feel and enhanced durability. Made from 100% recycled nylon yarn, SynSisal can go where natural fibres typically degrade, making this classic style suitable for anywhere, from residential to commercial.

SynSisal®: Sisal Without Limits is woven in Europe and rated for heavy contract use. SynSisal is specified by designers, retailers and hospitality groups worldwide, including Four Seasons, The Ritz-Carlton and Hyatt, receiving an iF Design Award in 2025.

The SynSisal Aesthetic

SynSisal brings the warm, understated, timeless character of natural sisal into spaces where natural fibres struggle. Each of the five signature weaves comes in seven colours inspired by natural fibre tones.
Solution-dyed for lightfastness and colourfastness, SynSisal suits New Zealand’s coastal, humid and sun-filled interiors. It is available as 4m broadloom, as made-to-size rugs in geometric or organic shapes, and as SynSisal® Tile, a modular, sisal-look carpet tile for commercial environments.

Sustainability

Sustainability was built into SynSisal from the start. It is woven from 100% ECONYL® PA6 regenerated nylon, made from reclaimed fishing nets and other post-consumer nylon waste. ECONYL® performs like virgin nylon and can be regenerated again and again. Its production generates up to 90% less CO2 than standard nylon.
SynSisal carries GUT, A+ VOC, Declare and Red List Free credentials, and contributes towards LEED and BREEAM projects.

Heritage Carpets is proud to be the sole importer and distributor of SynSisal® in New Zealand.
