PROJECT: LAINGS ROAD Residential Apartment block, Lower Hutt.
The iconic, art deco CML Building in Wellington’s Lower Hutt was built in 1959. Restrained heritage elements including curves and original fenestration remain key features in the refurbishment of what was an office building into 3 levels of 1 & 2 bedroom apartments sitting above ground floor commercial space.
Heritage Carpets have worked with CML’s developers to deliver more than 15,000m2 of off-the-shelf carpet in previous projects. In this case however, Architects Designgroup Stapleton Elliott wanted a classic loop-look carpet with the performance of solution-dyed nylon. With budget constraints in mind, Heritage generated a design using inspiration images, creating a textured loop broadloom that was durable and practical, yet looked premium and sat well within the architecture of the building.
The Heritage Carpets bespoke carpet is throughout the apartments across all three residential floors, with off-the-shelf carpet tiles also supplied in access hallways.
