Milford Asset Management

Architecture and Interior Design firm Wingates recently completed a 2,030 sqm commercial office fit-out for Milford Asset Management. Located on the top floor of 50 Albert Street in Auckland’s CBD, the design brings Milford’s operations together on one floor, consolidating teams previously split across two levels.

The workplace was designed to support flexibility and growth, with a variety of open and enclosed spaces to suit different working styles.

The spatial journey draws on the drama and beauty of Milford Sound. Reflecting Milford Asset Management’s brand identity, colour selections are inspired by the iridescent wings of the Kea.

Sustainability was key to the design, from reuse/repurpose of furnishings to minimise waste to the selection of cradle to cradle-certified carpets.

The Wingates design team turned to Heritage Carpets for the supply of eco-carpets made by modulyss®. To meet the design concepts of ref­­lecting nature and supporting wellness, the flooring choices required visual softness, warm colours and a high-end look all in one. Deep blues, greens and reds expressed the tones of Kea plumage, whilst cloud-patterned greys connect with the dramatic skies of the Sounds.

Haze, DSGN Cloud + DSGN Absolute in their varied tones are used to express the variety of spaces in the fit-out, with two DSGN products in same colourway allowing a seamless, subtle shift of pattern. Likewise the use of Haze in cut pile and loop pile in the same colour provides a soft transition, giving depth and interest to calming spaces.

Natasha Baumgartner, lead interior designer on the project, says, “We loved the colour options that the Haze range provided, it was also a newer range we hadn’t seen that provided pops of colour but kept the texture/ pattern minimal. Additionally, being able to pair the looped and cut pile options side by side.”

Wingates’ project designers describe Heritage Carpets as “[having a] great range of options and new products, plus they always provide great service to the team and are very easy to work with.” Natasha goes on to say, “Ivy and Umesh as usual were always helpful, quick with responding and assisting with both samples and solutions.”
