JASMAX designed the stunning, award-winning new offices for law firm MinterEllisonRuddWatts within the PWC tower in Auckland Central.
THE BRIEF
Create a premium environment for staff and an enhanced experience for clients, that reinforced professionalism and discretion as well as celebrating the firm’s history.
THE SOLUTION
The timeless interior aesthetic has a flexible design to seamlessly accommodate a variety of purposes including hosting industry events with in-house catering, to facilitating discrete, confidential meetings.
For the 245 staff, a paradigm shift from hierarchical offices and space allocation to open plan promoted a collaborative approach to sharing knowledge, mentoring team members and more easily facilitated operational efficiencies.
L22 is a dedicated client space that protects client privacy and continues the design concept from the working spaces on the 3 levels below. The open-plan workplace floors optimise natural light and maximise views, and are all integrated by a stair linking Levels 19-22, supporting the ease of collaborative opportunities. For these areas, the design team chose modulyss Nxtgen, in a grey tile, which is a hard-wearing and classic neutral that sets the tone for elegance in the space.
Overall, the soft grey tones in the carpets chosen leant themselves perfectly to the sophistication of the timeless colour palette and the elegant play between dark and light. The neutral tones allowed feature elements – in particular, the stunning art collection the firm proudly displays – to shine.
Aside from aesthetics, a key component in the selection of fixtures was to meet the rigours of attaining Green Star ratings for the fit-out. PWC Tower is a 5 Star NZGBC Green Star development. JASMAX supported Minter Ellison Rudd Watts’ sustainability goals with careful product choices, a key component being the selection of eco-friendly carpets. Consideration goes not only to the carbon footprint of materials and manufacture, but product lifecycle was an important motivator in the choice of flooring. With this in mind, Heritage Carpets supplied modulyss for the project, which is made from regenerated nylon fibres that can, in turn, be endlessly recycled. Using tiles is particularly eco-friendly, given only tiles that are damaged need to be replaced. Commercial warranties ensure the longevity of the installation.
